This Friday is our intro night for the Youth Alpha Course we’ll be running for the rest of the term. If you haven’t heard of Alpha before, it’s a course that gives young people the opportunity for anyone to explore the Christian faith in a relaxed, non-threatening way over ten thought-provoking sessions. It’s low key, friendly and fun. Millions of people have done Youth Alpha or adult Alpha all around the world and we’re excited to bring the course to Diamond Creek with the new videos they’ve made aimed at teenagers. Check out the trailer here.
My experience with these courses is overwhelmingly positive. The videos and philosophy of the course just work, especially for people who aren’t that familiar with church stuff. The four basic components are Food, Fun, Talk and Discussion. It’s simple but effective and an ideal place to bring friends along. Obviously the intro night is a great night to start but the course works for people who come in week 2, 3 or 4 as well.
Here’s some of the questions we’ll be asking the youth this week:
- If you had 24 hours to live, what would you do with the time you had left?
- Why do you think people sometimes find it awkward to talk about religious views?
- Assuming God is real: If you could ask God one thing, what would it be?
Don’t forget that you can now register for Camp Crave by going to the camp webpage.
