Firstly an apology. Last week I was away and so wrote the post two weeks ahead of time and set the blog to automatically post online on March 21st. At least that’s what I thought. Unfortunately what I asked the blog to do in reality was post on June 21st; completely useless for you at home. So, my apologies, let’s hope you get this post in a timely fashion 🙂
This Friday is our last event for term 1 and the last in our series on identity. We’ll be looking to the future and chatting to some special guests about what their experience was once they had finished school. We hope it will be encouraging to the youth in two ways. 1) Provide them with some positive older role models. 2) Let them know that your identity as a person doesn’t immediately become perfect and complete if you find the perfect job or tertiary course; that mistakes or bad decisions now don’t curse you forever.
- Date: 4th April 2014
- Time: 6:15-9pm
- Venue: St Johns Church Diamond Creek
- Cost: $5
- Dinner: Provided
- Perhaps you (the parent) could share a bit about how your identity was challenged after school.
- How did you (the parent) get to where you are now? What decision led you to do the work you do, live the life you do, have the friends you have?
- How can your family support discipline and diligence at school/work without creating too much pressure to perform?
