The human race is really good at worship. I don’t mean of God necessarily, I just mean that we are really good at worshipping pretty much anything. One of my favourite biblical quotes about the main problem of the human race comes from Rom 1:25 “They exchanged the truth about God for a lie, and worshipped and served created things rather than the Creator—who is forever praised. Amen.” At Crave this week we’ll be alerting our youth to the problems associated with worshipping created things such as body image, popularity and alcohol as well as pointing them to God, the creator of all things and the only person/thing worthy of worship. Because this is a big concept and we don’t expect everyone who comes on Fridays to currently be worshipping God, we’ll have plenty of time for questions and discussions.

When you think about it, many of the issues that youth face (Facebook addiction, alcohol abuse, gossip and bullying…) are a product of false worship. When young people (or people of any age actually) give honour and praise to these things they become a massive problem. This week’s Crave could be the perfect opportunity for you to get into a conversation about these issues and see where your kids are at.
